Coming around the big curve near UP's San Antonio East Yard, Amtrak Train #2 passes a waiting UP Local led by UP 588 and the former UP East Yard Shops. The former UP shops are now used by the Southwest Institute (I believe) for emissions testing. In the shops are two CN locomotives, 2288 and 8822, along with a CSX AC6000CW and ex-BNSF 6304. |

A slew of locomotives sit at the East Yard Shops in San Antonio, TX. The three tracks at the right are used by the Southwest Institute for Emissions Testing, which has several locomotives in it, including some newer CN locomotives, a UP SD70M, a CSX AC6000CW, and an ex-BNSF SD40-2. The tracks at the left are used for storage by UP and has a collection of C40-8's, B40-8's, and SD40-2's, including UP 2990, a very rusty patched-CNW unit. |
